Electricity to Internet
I'm keeping this short because unfortunately it's our last night on tour. I'm sad that I wasn't able to blog as much as I had planned. We have had a great time the last few days during our residence at Storm Mountain in Rapid City, South Dakota. As I look back at those days and our technology troubles, I thought to myself, "Why do I suddenly feel like we're really 'roughing' it without Internet? Since when did electricity start to be defined by a wifi signal and whether our cellular devices work?" A sign of the times for sure.
In the last few days we have seen Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, a gold mine, Dinosaur Park, and much more. One day Mr. Kleespie somehow convinced us all to try out the Chuckwagon for lunch, and it was a sight. The people at Storm Mountain are incredibly nice and accommodating. They took us on tours of their gold mine and beautiful campus. They also provided the boys with some s'mores one night with an awesome fire. On our way to mass last night at the Cathedral in Rapid City, we ran into some pretty bad weather. The boys got a bit antsy as the ran started to pour as we left Storm Mountain for the church, and once on the road, large sizes of hail started to come down. Our awesome bus driver Laurie got us through the mess and we made it safe and sound and on time for some rehearsing before singing. With no knowledge of 'Cruiser Night', we then attempted and after half and hour succeeded in finding the Pizza Hut we ordered our dinner at. Once there, we had a great meal and the boys built up quite the appetite after their great performance at the Cathedral. This morning was quite early because of needing to get up and pack our bags to check out of Storm Mountain and drive into town to sing at Blessed Sacrament. The people and parish at Blessed Sacrament rocked and the boys sang well once again, providing for a great last performance of their 2008-2009 season. We stopped at a McDonald's and Arby's for lunch (the boys got a choice, not both). There was a long bus drive ahead of us to what we thought was the Big Bend Dam, but after not computing the time change into our schedule, the Dam didn't work out, but the boys didn't seem to mind, knowing there was a pool and water slide awaiting them at the Days Inn where we are staying tonight. Dinner was provided by Marlin's Roadside Restaurant across the street from the Days Inn, but to our delight, after seeing it was connected to a gas station, Marlin's was great! The boys had great choices for meals and it was very tasty. It's been a great trip and as I'm writing this, the boys are having a snack and soon will head to bed for our last trek home. On behalf of the staff, I think I speak for all of us that the tour was a great way to end a much successful Junior Varsity 08'-09' season. Peace.
