2011-2012 Concert Season
The St. John’s Boys’ Choir presents close to 50 performances annually, comprising of feature concerts, performances at small local venues, guest appearances at festivals and conferences and ministering at local churches.

Boys on Broadway
with the George Maurer Jazz Group

Join close to 100 current and former choirboys as they put on their tuxes and top hats to present this annual favorite. The boys will dazzle you with engaging choreography as they perform some of Broadway's greatest hits. The George Maurer Jazz Group will provide the musical background for these young performers to shine. Don't miss this stunning season opener!

A Celebration in Word, Image, and Song
with the Collegeville Consort and Saint John's Abbey Schola
|
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the dedication of Saint John's Abbey Church and the completion of The Saint John's Bible, SJBC will collaborate with the Saint John's Abbey Schola and the Collegeville Consort in presenting a concert of sacred music. The main feature of the performance will be the world premiere of the "Mass of St. John the Baptist" by Karen Lynn Erickson.

A Ceremony of Carols

Now an established holiday tradition in Central Minnesota, the Concert and Junior Varsity Choirs will join with the Alumni Chorus to present selections of sacred Christmas music in one of Central Minnesota's most beautiful settings. The boys will enliven the candlelit Cathedral with selections by Britten, Chilcott, Gjeilo, Rutter, Vaughan Williams, and Willcocks among others. The SJBC Christmas Orchestra and Br. Theophane Windschitl will lend their musical talents throughout the concert as well.

Spring Dinner, Silent Auction & Concert

This gala event features a silent auction, gourmet dinner and concert - the only concert of the year to feature performances from all the SJBC ensembles. Please join us for this annual fundraiser which helps sustain the programs and services of the organization.

On Tour: All The Earth Sing Forth
|
Always regarded as the best concert of the year, SJBC will close out its season with the annual On Tour Concert. This year's concert will feature music that celebrates earth's richness - nature, creation, and humanity. Enjoy music from around the world before the Concert Choir heads off for a tour to the West Coast to partake in the Pacific International Children's Choir Festival.
